Blogging is hard!

I just deleted an article that I had worked on over three days or so. It sucked, which is why I deleted it, but I'm kind of shocked that I wasn't able to get something coherent with that much work.

The main reason I started this blog was to have a forum in which I could rant about whatever popped into mind. It turns out that presenting that as a coherent essay is harder than it looks. It's a lot easier to just, say, post a link to Stephen Colbert vs. The Decemberists and giggle a little.

But I won't give up, at least not yet. I figure that dashing off essays is a skill I've let atrophy and if I keep plugging away, I might get better at it. Perhaps I should start writing about video games. I hear that they're pretty popular in some circles.

(By the way, if you're curious, the article in question was about the Iraq war. I suggested that the US should hold a referendum in Iraq to decide if the troops should leave. I figured that might be a more politically-palatable way to declare victory and leave. Of course, the real problem with the Iraq war seems to be that the guy in charge won't listen to anyone, so my idea is pretty much moot. See? Bad article!)
